Concrete Removal & Replacement in Billings Heights, MT

One Crew for Billings Heights Concrete and Asphalt

The Heights is its own place — up over the rims from the rest of Billings, with its own schools, its own Main Street, and whole neighborhoods that grew up together. That last part matters for concrete: when subdivisions get built in the same era, their driveways age out in the same era too. Drive Lake Hills, Castle Rock or Alkali Creek today and you will see it — pitted surfaces, corner cracks, sunken panels, aprons breaking up at the gutter line. Slabs hitting the end of their service life on roughly the same schedule.

Concrete removal and replacement is the flagship of what Ostermiller Construction does, and the Heights is our closest stretch of Billings — our shop sits in Shepherd, minutes up the road. We tear out the failed slab, fix the ground that failed it, and pour a driveway, walk or patio that starts the clock over.

Rip it out, fix the ground, pour it right

Replacement done properly is mostly what happens between the tear-out and the pour. We break and haul the old concrete, then deal with why it failed — soft spots in the base, water tracking under the slab, grade pitched toward the garage instead of away from it. Then new compacted base, forms set to honest grades, an air-entrained mix for the freeze-thaw, and control joints cut so future cracking happens on our lines instead of across your driveway.

Not every job is a full driveway, and we will not sell you one when you do not need it. Single failed panels, a broken garage apron, a heaved front walk, back steps pulling away from the house — sectional tear-out and repour is normal work for us. What we will not do is mask a base problem with surface patches or slab-jacking; when concrete has settled, we replace it on rebuilt ground.

From Lake Hills cul-de-sacs to the Main Street corridor

Most of our Heights work is residential: driveways and front walks in Lake Hills, Castle Rock and Terrace Estates, patios and steps in backyards off Alkali Creek Road, aprons and approaches on the benches west of Main. The Heights grew fast and its concrete is hitting middle age fast — replacing it before it becomes a trip hazard or a drainage problem is cheaper than dealing with what comes after.

Along the Main Street corridor the work turns commercial — storefront sidewalks, curb and gutter sections, dumpster pads, and asphalt patching, crack sealing and re-striping for parking lots that take real daily traffic. Same crew, same standard, scheduled so a business does not lose its lot for longer than the work actually needs.

Questions From Billings Heights Property Owners

A few of the questions we hear most around Billings Heights. Don't see yours? Call us — we're happy to help.

Call (406) 717-4103

How long does a driveway replacement take, and when can we drive on it?
Tear-out, base work and the pour usually take a few days depending on size and weather. The concrete itself needs to cure before it takes weight — foot traffic within a day or so, vehicles only after several days — and we will give you the specific numbers for your pour and mix before we leave. Rushing the cure is how new driveways get wrecked, so we are firm on this one.
Can you replace just the bad sections instead of the whole driveway?
Often, yes. If the rest of the slab is sound, we can saw-cut, remove and repour individual panels, aprons or walk sections and match the joints. If the whole driveway is failing from underneath, sectional work becomes throwing money at a slab that is done — we will tell you honestly which situation you have when we look at it.
Is the Heights actually close for you?
Closest part of Billings there is, for us. Ostermiller Construction is based in Shepherd, just northeast of the Heights off Highway 312, so Lake Hills, Castle Rock, Alkali Creek and the Main Street corridor are minutes from the shop. Free on-site estimates are easy to schedule.
